FIESTA R5 QUOTES, 2017 RALLY DE ESPAÑA, SECTION TWO

Éric Camilli (1st in class) said:

“It’s been a perfect day for us and I am really happy. The car has been working well on every stage and we’ve been able to push hard and take a good lead in the class.

“Now I’m really looking forward to tomorrow. These Tarmac roads are so enjoyable to drive and we will continue to push and enjoy. For sure I will go to sleep with a smile tonight.”

Teemu Suninen (1st WRC 2 / 3rd in class) said:

“Generally the day has been really good for us with lots of fastest times and a good lead in WRC 2 which gives us a good chance of some strong points this weekend.

“We had some problems in the last stage [SS6] – losing about half a minute through the last 10 kilometres – but we can service the car for tomorrow and everything will be fine.”

Pierre-Louis Loubet (6th in class) said:

“Today has been so, so. We had a problem through Terra Alta this morning [SS3]. We had to stop and reset the car, and it was fine after that, but we lost about 20 seconds.

“This afternoon we stiffened the set-up and the car felt a lot better, but then on the second pass of Terra Alta [SS6] we had a front-right puncture and had to finish the stage slowly. We lost more than a minute but it is like this sometimes – sometimes you are lucky and sometimes you are not.

“Now, I’m looking forward to the Tarmac where we’ll try to do our maximum.”

Jon Armstrong (10th WRC 2 / 15th in class) said:

“We’ve had a few issues today but we got through and hopefully we’ll have a bit more luck on the Tarmac tomorrow. This was our first time with an R5 car on gravel so it was a bit of a learning curve, but we’ll be aiming for a better run tomorrow.”

FURTHER
INFORMATION

Gus Greensmith:

Gus Greensmith clipped a concrete block through the first stage of the day which damaged the suspension. The young Englishman could go no further, but will restart under Rally 2 regulations when the action resumes on asphalt tomorrow.

Max Vatanen:

Max Vatanen went off the road on SS2. Unfortunately the damage sustained proved too heavy to repair and the Finn will take no further part in this weekend’s event.
